What Exactly Is a Franchise Disclosure Document (FDD)?

The Franchise Disclosure Document, or FDD, is a legal document that the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) requires franchisors to provide to franchise candidates. This document must be given 14 days prior to the sale of a franchise.

The FDD is packed full of useful information potential franchisees need to know about the Franchisor before they agree to buy. FDDs can range from 100 to 300+ pages in some cases.
